I transformed a static Smithsonian Magazine article into an immersive, interactive web experience. I retained the editorial content but re-imagined it for digital storytelling: section by section I broke up the long-form page and added interactive features including map visualisations, dynamic stats, and featured imagery of people when mentioned. I also introduced pops of accent colour, updated typography for improved readability and contrast, and supported the narrative with visual cues that make the content more engaging and accessible. This redesign turns a “stagnant page” into a fluid, interactive journey that invites users in and keeps them engaged.
